5 myths about coffee that you thought were true

There are very few people who really don't like coffee. And we respect their tastes, but we really don't understand them! It's probably no wonder that around a drink that has such a huge number of fans around the world, there are also many myths and facts that are simply not facts, just ingrained information that we take for granted and no one bothers to verify them anymore.
Lightly roasted coffee contains more caffeine than dark roasted coffee
It is not true. The theory behind this statement says that during roasting, part of the caffeine in the coffee evaporates and the longer the coffee is roasted, the less of it there is. It sounds logical, but it's not true. The caffeine content in the beans does not change with roasting, so you will find approximately the same amount of caffeine in light coffee beans as if you roasted the same coffee darker.
Afternoon coffee will ruin your sleep
It is not true, but… It depends on several factors. Caffeine is known to be absorbed really quickly. Just out of curiosity, how quickly do you feel that coffee "kicked" you in the morning? Usually it's after a few sips. But that means that caffeine is broken down from the blood just as quickly. It all depends on genetics too, but for most people it doesn't take longer than three to seven hours. So if you have your last coffee around three or four in the afternoon, it will have no effect on your sleep, unless you go to bed really early.
More than a cup of coffee a day is unhealthy
It is not true.
Coffee will help you sober up
It is not true. In this case, it's probably a shame. And even though we've all seen movies, comics and all sorts of other works where a drunk hero was poured with coffee in order to sober up faster, research shows that neither coffee nor caffeine has an effect on the speed of sobering up. The feeling of arousal that caffeine brings may give the drunk person the impression that "he is fine", unfortunately, it is only an illusion and a relatively dangerous one at that.
Coffee dehydrates
It is not true. Ha!
